The Machete jewellery label was established in 2017, designed by Jennifer J. Matchett. Machete is a line of eco-conscious, affordable jewellery for everyday wear. All materials used are Italian imported, high grade, cellulose acetates. Importantly, Machete jewellery is ecologically friendly and does not support unfair labour practices. Machete has been featured on Vogue.com and throughout publications worldwide.
About Machete jewellery:
The tortoise shell acetate Machete source is high quality and non-petroleum based, imported from Italy. Cellulose acetate is a natural and renewable material, providing an eco-friendly alternative to a petroleum-based material.
Cellulose acetate is made by extracting cellulose fibres from cotton and wood pulp to create a transparent paste. This paste can then be coloured, processed, and moulded for a variety of industrial applications. For Machete jewellery, it is cut from a large block into thin sheets and then cut again into smaller rectangular blocks.
